- 壮丽三峡与乌杨汉阙：一楼主打展厅，从地质运动讲到人文历史，是博物馆的门面担当。
- 重庆·城市之路：二楼分城市变迁、山城漫步、工业崛起、英雄城市、直辖风采五个单元。
- 巴蜀汉代雕塑艺术：展厅约 720 平方米，展出石阙、画像石、画像砖、陶俑等近 16
- 四楼的瓷器与书画：历代瓷器展厅精选 250 余件，梳理中国陶瓷脉络。
- 一眼认出的一串镇馆之宝：“巫山人”左侧下颌骨化石、三羊尊、鸟形尊。
